Awareness and the art of communication

Mindfulness helps you be settled in yourself and speak with a genuine and true voice. The approach to communication we use helps you be assured, clear and engaging when communicating. 

Believable and engaging communication

When a there is a match between a strong sense of presence and a connection with your material there is a sense of authenticity and integrity. This congruence between presence and content is  essential to successful communication and training others effectively. It gives rise to trust and engaged interest.

Awareness of others 

Out of a sense of being self-aware and present there arises an awareness and engagement with others. This gives you the ability to pick up on the signs of engagement or the lack of it in others. Mindfulness makes you alive to your topic and the awareness of others helps you adapt your communication of the topic to those present. This makes the  communication alive and keeps it relevant.

The traditions of science and presentations come together in mindfulness

There is strong evidence in scientific trials using sophisticated brain-scanners that mindfulness training and meditation stimulates a genuine sense of ease and adaptability. This directly overcomes performance anxiety which can make conveying information difficult. These tests show that mindfulness  improves the minds ability to adapt quickly and creatively in changeable and even challenging circumstances. In giving presentations and training situations this fluidity of mind helps overcome mental blocks and and increases creative spontaneity.

About Ian / Vajradaka

Ian / Vajradaka is a teacher, mentor and writer.  He lived at Vajraloka meditation retreat centre for 21 years practising mindfulness and meditation. While he was there he was part of the retreat teaching team and attended and led scores of mindfulness retreats. A big part of  his work with mindfulness is to have a direct and experiential approach which is relevant and applicable in our current modern situations. He is one of the most experienced mindfulness teachers in the UK.

Great workshop in terms of delivery, subject and relevance as I believe the workplace often hides this kind of thing ( awareness ) under the carpet. I found it very inspiring- The idea used linked in with previous workshops/courses I have done- I made an important link with realising I have moved on and much less ‘stuck’ than I was.
